A 4 hour workshop on Saturday, May 23rd at 11 am, with a follow-up workshop on Saturday, May 30th at 11 am.
Crewel embroidery is a traditional surface embroidery technique using fine, two-ply wool yarn on sturdy fabric like linen or cotton twill to create textured, dimensional designs.
This is a workshop using historic colonial American and British crewel embroidery on linen twill to learn new decorative stitches - or revisit familiar ones - to create a historically based design. You will also learn how to finish your design so you can frame it, or use the piece on a small project - think, pillow or project bag.
Previous experience is helpful - but not necessary!
